Can we meet you?
Of course, although I must say from the start that weekends are out of bounds! I hope this doesn't come across badly, but I pretty much shoot weddings every weekend of the year, so when I have a Sunday off I have to keep these for family days. Otherwise, I wouldn't have one! I also set aside every Monday for client meetings - either via Skype or hopefully in person!
How would you describe your style of wedding photography?
My style of photography is a mixture of photojournalism as well as the more traditional skills. On average, I'd say 90% of what I do is photojournalism/reportage and 10% is set aside for contemporary portraits and any groupshot requirements. As each of my clients requirements are different, I tailor this for each and every wedding.
Can you Travel?
Absolutely, although the majority of my work is within Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, I photograph weddings throughout the UK and worldwide.
Much of your work is Black and White?
Much of my work is black and white, however I give colour copies of the same photograph as often as I can. In most instances it's around 80 - 90 percent of shots which are in both colour and black and white. However I must keep the right to supplying my clients with a few photographs which are monocrome only. This is because as a wedding photographer I have no control over light and if the light available to me has an adverse effect on colour photographs I simply feel I cannot put my name to it.
What's your biggest fear (no pun intended!)
My biggest fear is letting people down.
Will you take over our whole day?
Absolutely not, although I may take the bride and groom off for a few portrait shots, this is a very minor part of the day (maybe 30 - 40 minutes). My aim is to let each wedding happen just as it would with as little interference from me as possible.
Do you take group shots?
Having been to many weddings as a guest myself with an overbearing photographer spending what seems like hours of the day for formal photographs I go out of my way to do the opposite. When it comes to the more traditional side of wedding photography, I ask my couples to designate an usher or responsible guest to be in charge of organising the groups and keep them to a maximum of eight. For me, weddings should be enjoyed by everyone and feel by keeping this side of things to a minimum is always appreciated.
Are our photographs copyrighted?
No, you have full license to print, share them on social network sites or copy the USB 100 times. The only thing I insist is that you do not use them for any commercial purpose.
Can we afford you?
Try me - I think you'll be surprised!
What are your albums like?
When it comes to the album I like to leave this until after the day and once things have settled down a little. Once I have finished the post-production work, I will normally spend an hour or so with my clients to choose which album they would like and which photographs are to go within. I only use one supplier: Folio. Having worked with Folio Albums countless times I believe their albums supersede anything else on the market. The cost of the albums do vary on size and number of pages, but typically, the cost is between 250 and 300 pounds. It is also common for my clients to order a mini (6X6") albums which cost around 150 pounds. I design all albums individually in my studio and once the proofs are signed off the finished album will be with you within two weeks. It is my aim for all clients to receive an album and all their un-copyrighted photographs for a maximum of 1,500 pounds
How many photographs are we likely to recieve?
This is a tricky one as it very much depends on the day. However, you can expect between 400 to 500 of a quality and style as seen on my website ( I also do everything in colour and black and white - so double it!). For me, quality is everything and the photographs you'll receive will be as perfect as possible. As such, you may receive fewer photographs than other photographers may provide. However, my feeling is that my clients would far rather receive 400 or so great photographs capturing the magic of their day rather than 600 to 800 poor ones with no thought or substance behind them.
Lastly, please feel free to contact me via my contact page or give me a call on 07891 421 618 to discuss requirements and thank you for your interest in my work.
